Appraisal:

We'll inspect your exterior cladding in detail, ascertaining the state of the timber and whether refurbishment is needed. An appraisal includes:

Assessing the state of the timber itself. Is it sound or does it need replacing in any areas?
Checking the state of the current coating (paint, stain or oil). Does it need refurbishing/recoating? If so, does the whole house need to be done, or only certain areas (typically those that get most direct sunlight)?

Once we've assessed the condition of your timber, we can provide a quote for refurbishing it. Quotes are made up of three components:

1. Washing and preparing the surface for recoating. If the timber is painted or stained, it may need sanding. This can add to the cost of preparation.
2. Oiling the timber. Once the timber is prepared, oiling generally takes only a day or two (depending on the size of your home.)
3. Oil. We use Wood-X, a premium oil that we developed in collaboration with Resene, New Zealand's paint experts. Wood-X costs no more than other oils and delivers outstanding results. We can tint the oil in a wide range of shades to give you the finish you want.
